Stone’s Mona Lisa
石村的蒙娜丽莎
Media reports, interviews and essays from 1993 to 2019 trace twenty-six years of Stone Chun Shi’s life in art. The collection moves from his early impact in Taiwan and his work with MTV to his later practice in Beijing and New York, where the Stonecube language developed.
Accounts by journalists and people around the artist sit alongside Stone’s own reflections on growing up, art and music. His reinterpretation of the Mona Lisa gives the book its title. Edited by Sonia Hu and Hong Junzhi, with a foreword by Yan Li and an afterword by Hu, it examines a creative life through both outside perspectives and the artist’s own voice.
