1970年，著名的摇滚民谣组合“西蒙和加芬克尔”推出专辑《忧愁河上的桥》，达到他们艺术成就的癫峰，音乐中所表现出的忧伤真正显露出了一股悲天悯人的胸怀。在唱片发行后不久，“西蒙和加芬克尔”就宣布解散。
